Learning keyboard shortcuts is one of the easiest things you can to speed things up. Left hand keyboard shortcuts like Copy (Ctrl+C), Paste (Ctrl+V), and Undo (Ctrl+Z) have become second nature to me. In fact, unless I’m typing something, my left pinky finger basically lives on the Control key.
A really useful blog I’ve discovered recently is Windows Keyboard Shortcut of the Day and it delivers exactly what you’d expect. Everything from software specific shortcuts like Ctrl+Shift+F to “Select Font” in Microsoft Office applications to Ctrl+A, another second nature shortcut to select all the text in a document, page or text area.
As you might have guessed, the shortcuts on this blog are entirely Windows shortcuts and though some classic shortcuts will work on a Mac (using the Command key instead of Control) some won’t. You have been warned.

OK, so this is not exactly tech. It is, however, definitely simple and very useful.
Ever received an email asking for $30 or more with a promise of an official report indicating whether or not your state owed you any unclaimed money? The truth is your state may indeed owe you money. However, it does not cost you $30 to find out.
Tip blog, Dumb Little Man, has done some deep background research into the area and put together a nice and thorough list of state and government established websites for searching through their databases of unclaimed property.

Most weather sites display lots of excess information like radars, traffic reports and tips for planning your next ski trip, which is great, if you’re actually planning your next ski trip. But for those of us who just want to check the weather, most sites are overkill with long page load times. New weather site SimpleWeather.com cuts out all that clutter and just simply does its job. Input your zip code once (stored in a cookie) and SimpleWeather will do its thing.
